HCA South Atlantic is a significant force in the surrounding communities we serve. Through the healing efforts of more than 22,000 colleagues, the HCA South Atlantic Division continues to deliver excellent healthcare to communities in South Carolina, Georgia, and Northeast Florida with 11 hospitals, 11 freestanding ERs, 10 urgent care centers, and over 135 physician practices staffed by some 650 physicians and advanced practice professionals. All 11hospitals are designated teaching hospitals with 31 GME programs and over 500 residents and fellows.

Getting to the heart of stroke
We are proud to partner with the American Heart Association to support this new initiative. In Jacksonville, Florida, this partnership includes providing public education, healthy cooking classes and blood pressure cuffs to people who use 20+ food banks in the area.
Mental wellness program for kids
Our hospitals are sponsoring this digital program in partnership with EVERFI and offering it to schools for free. The goal is to help teens, reduce the stigma associated with mental illness, and empower students to help themselves and others.
The curriculum was developed by counselors, psychiatrists, and behavioral and public health professionals. We currently have 69 active or committed schools participating in the program in 14 counties in SC and GA.

The Lown Institute ranks Colleton Medical Center #1 in SC regarding community benefit. They include charity care spending, community health initiatives and other community benefit spending in their metrics.
Crush the Crisis
HCA Healthcare introduced an enterprise-wide opioid take-back day in 2017 to raise awareness of the dangers of opioid misuse and the importance of safe and proper disposal. Our participating hospitals have partnered with local law enforcement agencies to collect and safely dispose of hundreds of pounds of medication annually.
